Async Audio Memo to Structured Issue Dispatcher

Built a lightweight micro-service enabling engineers to send raw voice notes that are transcribed and structured into Linear tickets.

Direct Answer & Core Finding

Removing UI friction dramatically increases update compliance, provided there is a human review confirmation gate.

1. The Baseline Problem

Field engineers frequently skipped entering detailed tickets into Linear due to mobile web form friction.

Complex web forms are where field observations go to die. Engineers on site rarely stop to fill in five dropdowns and an issue description.

We tested sending 60-second voice notes directly to a webhook. The system transcribes the speech, extracts core requirements, maps severity, and formats standard markdown tickets.

2. What Was Built

A Telegram / WhatsApp webhook that receives voice audio, runs Whisper transcription, extracts acceptance criteria, and generates structured issues.

By responding with a one-click confirmation preview, users can verify accuracy with zero manual typing.

What Broke & Known Limitations

Background ambient noise in field audio caused transcription gibberish. We added noise-reduction preprocessing and a user confirmation preview step prior to ticket creation.
